I recently wrote this article on a pitfall of starting a transition to retirement pension (TTRP) from a financial planning perspective. TTRP's can be a good retirement planning tool as it allows people to reduce their working hours but maintain their full-time pay by drawing money out of super to cover the gap.

However, if made redundant or find yourself out of a job, having the TTRP may stop you from receiving Centrelink assistance.
