In this article I write about the difficulties that people face trying to purchase their first home in capital cities around Australia due to high house prices.

Doing the financial planning for people in Sydney, over the years I've noticed that most people can afford the mortgage repayments however they can't scrape the deposit together due to cost of living pressures.

Some have relied on parents to provide financial guarantees in lieu of cash deposits to allow them to crack the property market. In this article, I explore this area and discuss the pro's and con's and look at what the banks are currently offering to assist first home buyers.
