Mia Xu
Manager - Implementation and Administration

I joined AFAG in 2020 and have been part of the team ever since, working closely with clients to bring their financial plans to life. As Manager of Implementation, I focus on the practical side of financial planning — making sure strategies don’t just stay on paper, but are executed smoothly and effectively.
Day to day, I’m across everything from superannuation and SMSFs to risk protection, personal investments, EOFY tax planning, contribution strategies and ongoing requests. I also oversee workflow and coordinate team support, helping ensure complex queries are handled with care and precision. While I’m not a financial adviser, I have a strong interest in financial markets, investing, and everyday finance, and I enjoy seeing how these pieces fit together to improve our clients’ lives.
My academic background includes a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Sydney, and I previously qualified as a Chartered Accountant. That experience gave me a strong technical foundation and a sharp eye for detail, which I now apply to every aspect of implementation.
I’ve always been financially literate, with investing a constant theme in my family growing up, so stepping into this career felt natural. What drives me most is empathy — I genuinely enjoy making our clients’ lives easier, taking the stress out of the process, and making sure every detail is done right.
Outside of work, I love diving into mysteries and strategy — whether it’s reading Agatha Christie novels, revisiting the world of Harry Potter, or enjoying a lively game of poker with friends and family. I also unwind by watching nature documentaries, staying active with Pilates, and, of course, giving any nearby cats my full attention.
